A New Private School in Anthem: Caepe

The Caepe School

The Caepe School in Anthem was founded in 2008 by Tamara and Darren Lee.

It is the only private, nondenominational, nonprofit school in Anthem for students of preschool age through grade 8. Housed in several suites (one is for the preschool) at 42212 N. 41st Drive, the school uses a multiage approach to education and operates on the philosophy that every child has the right to learn at his or her own pace. The school's initial enrollment was 54 students and for the 2009/2010 year, 72 students now attend.

There are two elementary, two middle school age classrooms and one kindergarten classroom. The kindergarten class has a separate teacher. The curriculum is broad and the teacher-student ratio is held at 1:9. The Caepe School Board just welcomed Geoff Campbell (the head of school at Phoenix Country Day School) and John Hasslacher (a financial expert) as members.

The school's founders graduated from Villanova University in the early 1990s and both later obtained masters degrees, Tamara in Education and Darren in Counseling. They are the parents of three children.
