The Invitation, an Important First Impression
When a business is hosting an event, it wants to appear as professional and well thought out as possible and one of the best ways to do that is through the design of the invitation. An invitation is the perfect opportunity to create a favorable first impression and set the tone for the entire event.
The type of invitation that is selected should reflect the particular business and the image it is trying to portray. For example, a new hip clothing store could use a contemporary design and message, whereas a more established and traditional business such as a bank or an insurance company would be better served using a more formal invitation.
Next are the decisions about what the invitation is going to say. The obvious message will be the point of the invitation – a grand opening, customer appreciation party, holiday event, etc. A less apparent message, such as one of prestige or success, can be delivered through the design and layout of the invitation.
The layout and design should be easy to read and reference. Important notes such as date/time and location should be easily found and read. Lastly, ensure that the invitation is printed on high quality card stock, the ink is water resistant so that it will not smudge, and the font and paper colors used are appropriate to the event.
